About Sharon Church, Pontypool

At Sharon Church we are grateful for the past, but looking to the future!

The Past

Sharon Full Gospel Church began with a Gospel mission in a tent in Pontypool Park during 1936. Many local people were saved, miraculously healed and baptised in the Holy Spirit under the ministry of Newport evangelist Howell Harris. This group of new Christian believers built Emmanuel Hall, which is now the Pontypool Salvation Army, (next to what was Pontypool Rugby Club) before moving into the current building on Osborne Road in 1952.

The Present

Sharon Full Gospel Church is a witness for Jesus Christ to the whole of Pontypool, which is one of the largest towns in Wales. Our meetings provide an opportunity for people of all ages to worship God. The church is known for its friendliness and care for its members, who come from many different backgrounds. We are growing steadily and have monthly outreaches, open airs, door to door and tract distribution on several local estates.

Sharon Church International is a fellowship which brings believers together from 5 different continents. We help to financially support a number of missionaries and national workers around the world, and keep in touch by prayer and email, sharing our regular Bible Studies with thousands of Christians worldwide.

We produce tens of thousands of Gospel tracts each year, and have begun to deliver them to various Welsh towns, with the ambition of reaching every home in Wales by 2030!

In addition to our own weekly meetings, we maintain good links with other local churches, schools and residents. Pastor Mathew Bartlett has been a regular visitor to assemblies and lessons in 13 Pontypool schools for the last 14 years.

The Future

We remain committed to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every man, woman and child in Pontypool - and to reaching out beyond our home town in any way we can - until He comes again. Will you join us?

Sharon Full Gospel Church is a Pentecostal church serving Pontypool, Torfaen, Gwent, South Wales Valleys just minutes from Cwmbran and Newport.
